Getting reviews on Amazon. It’s a frustrating part of being a seller, right?

You’ve worked so hard on creating and building your online business, only to have things slow down after launching, because no one is leaving those extremely important reviews. Why is this?

Here are 3 reasons why our customers aren’t leaving reviews on Amazon…

 

They Forget

 

Yep, that’s right. Probably one of the most common excuses for most things. I forgot.

This isn’t done on purpose, or in a malicious way, nor does it mean your customer was not happy with your product. They just simply forget to leave reviews on Amazon.

Put yourself in the customer’s shoes for a sec. You’ve purchased this awesome product, received it and absolutely love it! Funnily enough, reviewing this product is not going to be on top of your to do list. You may rave about it to friends and family, but you aren’t going to be running for your laptop to go and leave that product a review (unless maybe you’re an Amazon seller yourself and understand the struggle!)

This is why, setting up an email campaign to contact customers after they have received their purchase is essential to gaining those all important reviews on Amazon! It reminds them!

Giving your customers a little nudge with an email will not hurt anybody, and on the whole, they will be pleased to hear from you! As long as your emails have PURPOSE, then there is no harm in sending them. Just don’t get in the habit of bombarding your customers with pointless emails, that my friends, is spamming. And no one likes a spammer.

Not only does sending emails out to customers after they have your product in their hands bring in reviews as a whole, but it can also help avoid any negative feedback. How? Well, if someone has had a bad experience or if the product is not up to their standards, without an email sent to them soon after as their product was delivered, the first page they will head to is, that’s right, your listing. Only to leave a nasty review.

BUT, if you send them an email and have established a point of communication then they will know where to go to contact you, rather than leaving a bad review on your listing.

Another great way to ensure your customers don’t forget, is to be active on your social media profiles.

By being on top of your game when it comes to all things social, such as Instagram, Facebook or even YouTube, the chances are you customer will see a post helps keep you top of mind and they just may think, “Damn, I have to leave them a review!”

 

When to Send Emails to get Reviews on Amazon

 

Why not set up Google Alert for your product/brand? That way you can monitor what is being said about your products and where.

 

They don’t know how or where

 

For us Amazon users, it’s difficult to fathom that some people out there aren’t great at navigating the net or simply using a computer full stop.

This means that some people who purchase your product may not even know how to leave  reviews on Amazon, even if they wanted to.

I know people who know how to use Amazon for example, but that is the furthest they will go into the world wide web. They know how to use that website, and that is it. So you have to make it EASY for people. Why make things hard, right?

By simply sending out an email when asking for a review once your customer has received their purchase, add a direct link to where they can leave feedback. Don’t just say “LEAVE ME FEEDBACK ON AMAZON!” and leave it there. Make it super simple for your customers, this way, they will be more than likely to leave feedback, compared to if you left it to them to navigate to on their own.

Also, make your email appealing and obvious. Make the link into a button, so it is obvious where they need to click. I hate it when I receive an email asking me to leave feedback or contact them, where I have to go through the entire contents to find that link hidden in text! Make it bright, aesthetically pleasing and obvious. Then, there are no excuses.

Social media (again) can play a huge role in this. Most people use social media in this day and age. Even my nan is on Facebook. So again, being active on social media can be a huge help to your business and lead to reviews on Amazon.

They don’t have time

 

This one probably affects all of us.

When the clock is always turning and living in this fast paced place called Earth, I can understand how people just don’t have the time to sit down for 5 minutes and leave feedback. And guessing by the fact your customer purchased from you via Amazon, probably means they didn’t have time to go to the shops to go and purchase it themselves.

Leaving feedback doesn’t have to take ten minutes of a day, nor should it be a chore.

Keep this in mind, and set up an email campaign that is straight to the point and simple. Don’t send out emails with a whole page of text for someone to read through. First of all, that isn’t appealing. Sometimes, when I open emails that are full of text I just think “NOPE” and put my phone down. Huge amounts of text means it will take TIME to read. So, avoid that. Keep it punchy and straight to the point.

Some people may have never purchased from though Amazon before and therefore, do not understand the whole feedback process, thinking it will take far too long.

By putting a punchy line within your email such as:

“CLICK HERE TO LEAVE US A REVIEW (IT ONLY TAKES 2 MINUTES!)”

This will reassure your customer that it will not take up all of their time and they will be more likely to invest that two minutes on writing a quick review for you.
